Kia Stanford, a multi-award-winning interior designer from London, teamed up with ohpopsi to answer a few questions about the thing we both share a mutual love for – interior design!
What interior design trends do you predict for Autumn/ Winter 2017?
Apart from hating trends in general, I am loving the rise of more colours. Each new year we seem to be seeing more colours emerging and it looks like we might be banishing the beige forever.
What are three of your favourite colours you like to use when transforming interiors?
Pink, black and grey. Grey is still one of my favourite base colours to use, even in the lightest of forms it can help to soften even the harshest of designs. Pink is so much fun and everyone is always drawn to it whether it be in a hallway or on artwork. Black is becoming more well used as a highlight colour and it puts a huge smile on my face.
If you had to give an example of a standout piece of interior design, what would it be and why?
It would probably be the Hillcrest Residence in Beverly Hills, CA by Kelly Wearstler. It is unapologetic in its over the top nature and I adore it.
What would be your favourite print/ pattern design and why?
We have been working with a lot of amazing clients recently and they have been so fantastic at taking up colour. Whether it be purples in the kitchen or bright prints in living rooms. I have fallen in love with this pattern and we see more patterns like this being explored by clients over the next year.
